On average building a house can produce 1000kg of waste wood(1). A large proportion of this waste is contributed by single use timber hoarding. But construction companies are obliged to secure sites from unauthorized access by the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. No work is permitted to take place until a secure barrier is in place around the site. The act states the qualities of that barrier, but not the material. The question is what is the environmental impact of using timber hoarding and does using plastic hoarding stack... View More
We all know that for a site in an urban area, hoarding graffiti is often a risk. But how do you plan for and mitigate against the graffiti menace? If you work with Perimeters, Graffiti will be gone as a worry.
If you use Perimeters hoarding vandals are up against it. First of all Perimeters hoarding presents a smooth impervious surface. Paint drips and pens slip. Budding Banksy's will look elsewhere. Perimeters working with Kier delivered a few cheerful additions to the play area at Trevithick School in Camborne. Perimeters installed its reusable hoarding across a playground and adjacent field. This turned what could have been a monotone barrier into something all together more jazzy.
An imaginative frieze now decorates the site hoarding that protects the play area from the ongoing construction work. The frieze is already encouraging the tots to channel their "Messi"ness on the playground as well as in art class. Ball marks pattern the age appropriate sized goal. A... View More
CG Fry asked themselves what would be the right site hoarding solution for their Poundbury Pavillion Yard development? They approached Perimeters for the answer for their Poundbury site hoarding. Poundbury is shaped by the principles of architecture and urban planning as advocated by HRH The Prince of Wales. The reusable plastic site hoarding installed in CG Fry's brand colours provides a bold statement of quality. But re-usable hoarding is also reflective of the standards of the development in other ways.

A picture is worth a 1000 words. Timber hoarding weathers, distorts and buckles. Timber often needs repainting or having boards replaced. Perimeters' hoarding doesn't weather. Instead it stays true throughout the life of a site.
In the picture, we see a site neighbouring Perimeters' site for Steve Hoskin Groundworks at PL2. The laminated wood board is looking the worse for British weather after only a few months. Even after years, Perimeters' hoarding will stay true.

When considering hoarding, it pay to think about the whole package. Smart gates = Smart site. Gates set the tone for a site. Perimeters now exclusively installs fully galvanised gates. Galvanised gates look smarter on installation. But they also stay looking smart throughout the life of your site. A smart gate combined with the smooth surface of Perimeters' hoarding sets the tone for a site. So when you think about hoarding, also ensure you have your gates galvanised.

The Perimeters' team created an elegant "bell mouth" site entrance for client Gilbert and Goode for their St Mewan Lane site at Trewoon neat St Austell. Perimeters hoarding is very much more adaptable than traditional timber hoarding, so following a curve is no problem. At Trewoon a 5m galvanized mesh gate secured the site whilst keeping up appearances.
